Power Set Name: El Naipe
Basic Concept: El Naipe is a system of magic that utilizes a combination of prepared cards and a focusing tool. Practitioners of this system typically use private rituals to imbue cards--whether typical playing cards or any fitting substitute, such as slips of paper--with a predetermined power. By destroying the card with their chosen focusing tool, the user is given a short window (typically 5 to 15 seconds) through which to direct the card's power. The duration and strength of a given card depends on a number of factors, including the quality of the card itself and the quality of the ritual used to empower it. Better and larger volumes of materials produce stronger, higher-quality, easier-to-control cards; conversely, cheap materials or a lack of materials can produce unwieldy cards with weaker power. Similarly, mass production of these cards tends to result in unstable product, as the rituals require a precise amount of focus to ensure that they turn out correctly.
El Naipe power rituals all originate from the Grimoire of the Signs. Many of the more basic rituals have been copied and distributed amongst the small number of El Naipe users worldwide; more complex rituals are hidden within the tome, though only those who have attained great skill and power are able to even look upon them, let alone put them into use. Uniquely, the four Symbols of the Signs are tied closely into the origins of El Naipe, such that those specific focuses can produce far more powerful results than a normal focus, and each can produce unique spins on the same spells.
Focus: Primarily utility. As El Naipe cards must be prepared in advance, they are rarely useful in the sense of combat. The most effective use of El Naipe comes from those who are adept at playing the long game, such as Ford; powerful rituals can be set up years in advance of when they will actually come into use, resulting in great and far-reaching effects.
Type: Magical. Closest approximation would be Fairy-Type, though the various effects of the different cards cover a huge range of Types.

Cons:
Abilities: El Naipe is a complex magical system, seen and used by few and capable of many, many things. New examples of its capabilities are almost always presented with each interaction with a user.
--Known: La Gravedad, La Quemadura, La Marejada, Pacificar, La Guerra
Ability Name: La Gravedad
Ability Description: A card produced by channeling energy from a self-felled apple. When produced and channeled correctly, this card grants a short burst of control over gravity in a small area.
Ability Name: La Quemadura
Ability Description: A card produced by channeling energy from a plain, lit candle. When produced and channeled correctly, this card produces a ball of fire under the user's control.
Ability Name: La Marejada
Ability Description: A card produced by channeling energy from a bowl of ocean water. This card, when produced and channeled correctly, produces a powerful wave of water under the user's control. When channeled incorrectly or crudely produced, it creates an abrupt burst of water going in all directions.
Ability Name: Pacificar
Ability Description: A card produced by channeling energy from nine volunteers, aged 19 or younger at the time of agreement, that have taken a Vow of Silence. This card, when produced and channeled correctly, "deactivates" all forms of conflict. When combined with the Symbol of Famine, it can outright deactivate powers, leaving only "stabalizing" abilities unaffected; channeling through the Symbol of Famine, a powerful Focus Circle, and one of Missing Zeros' Anchor Points allowed it to affect the entire universe and connected dimensions. When channeled incorrectly or crudely produced, it targets only Pokémon abilities and powers, rendering them still capable of physical battle.
Ability Name: La Guerra
Ability Description: A card produced by channeling energy from a stalwart guardian split between dimensions. This card, when produced and channeled correctly, reverses the effects of Pacificar, reactivating Pokémon abilities and powers and creating the potential again for conflict. When channeled through the Symbol of War, it unlocks the hidden capabilities of people and Pokémon alike, allowing for Mega Evolution and strengthening several species by adjusting their natural Types. Channeling through the Symbol of War and one of Missing Zeros' Anchor Points allowed it to affect the entire universe and connected dimensions. When channeled incorrectly or crudely produced, its effects are not activated instantaneously, but rather return powers in a gradual manner.

Pros:
- Jack of all Trades: El Naipe is not a system focused on one particular use, but rather provides tools for many different situations. Someone good at planning ahead can get quite a bit of mileage out of the system.
- Extraordinary Effects: Practitioners who have delved deep into the secrets of El Naipe possess access to magic that can, with the proper recipes and rituals, create effects on a universal scale.
- The Signs: Disregarding traitors and deserters, El Naipe is near-exclusively practiced by the Signs in Kalos. Access to El Naipe generally means access and alliance with the Signs--an organization that once could claim to run Kalos from the shadows.
Cons:
- Master of None: While El Naipe is capable of a lot, each individual card tends to be focused only on a singular effect--shooting a fireball as opposed to controlling flames, for instance. For wider effects, stronger cards are needed, and these are not easy to come by.
- Preparation: El Naipe is hardly useful on the field--rituals take time to complete, so charging cards on the field is generally not possible. Users must plan ahead and make do with what they have.
- Tool-Dependent: Creating cards requires materials, and using cards requires a focus. Without the necessary tools, El Naipe cards are useless at best and dangerously uncontrollable at worst.
- Power Level: El Naipe effects vary quite a bit in power. Generally, only the most-learned practitioners are able to get the most out of the system, as they have access to higher-power rituals and recipes. Beginners often find the system's capabilities lacking. Power level can vary depending on material, card, and focus item quality, the length of the time spent charging a card, and whether the card is activated within a focus circle or without.
- Effect Duration: Save for some higher-powered rituals, effects produced by El Naipe tend to be short-lived, generally being instantaneous effects.
