Name: Meghan Vert
Faction: Team Liberty
Hometown: Saffron City, Kanto
Age: 29 (b. November 3rd, 1987)
Appearance: Dr. Meghan Vert is about 5'8", weighing about 156 lbs. She has dark green eyes, framed by rectangular glasses, and matching hair, which she allows to fall across part of her face. She does not tend to wear makeup, feeling it to be unnecessary. Her outfits tend to be covered up by the black lab coat she wears.
Personality: Callous is the term that most people tend to think of when it comes to Vert. She is concerned with her scientific experiments first and foremost, and as such has garnered a reputation for putting aside ethics and morals in the name of scientific development. Vert often cites hypocrisy in her defense, noting that pressure never seems to fall on her when her experiments and designs result in something that her superiors deem useful for themselves--an argument that may or may not be true. In conversation she tends to be professional, in the blunt, short, and to-the-point sort of way. She finds no pleasure in dealing with nonsense, and will make it known if she feels that you are wasting her time. There are times where her outer walls break down, and she becomes more outwardly emotional, even sympathetic, but these instances are few and far between, and all brought on by extreme circumstances.
Background: Meghan Vert was born and raised in Saffron City, where she was taught from a young age to value logic and scientific discovery above all else. She excelled in school and began a deeper dive into the fields of engineering and biology at the age of 16, partway into Team Rocket's rise to power and just before Team Liberty's formation. While the exact details of her joining Team Liberty are unknown, it is known that her mentor's lab was forcibly shut down sometime in 2009. It can be presumed that she sought out the best source of funding for further research, and determined that Team Liberty would suit her needs.
As a member of Team Liberty, Vert functioned for some time as a Field Agent, before shifting to work as a Technician and later moving into Research and Development. Her work with Team Liberty during this time resulted in improvements to Team Liberty's breeding programs, which garnered her favor with then-Executive Silvermind. She eventually moved up the ranks, becoming more and more well-known, and was later promoted to Executive of R&D after the Battle of Four Island.
Vert's self-proclaimed magnum opus was Project WEAVER, which she brought to Team Liberty's leadership shortly after her promotion to Executive. Under her plan, Vert proposed using Pokémon to empower Power Suits that would allow human operators to utilize Pokémon abilities. Unfortunately, due to the high mortality rate of the Pokémon involved, the project was denied by Goldhawk, despite Vert's insistence that it could help with Team Liberty's rapidly declining position of power. She was approached by Executive James Arthur, who proposed using clones and offered to secure the equipment necessary to produce them. Vert agreed. At the same time, she began to utilize assistance from the Signs in Kalos to provide her with non-Legendary Pokémon of the Types that she did not have access to through Team Liberty's recruited Legendary Pokémon. After receiving the equipment, she went to work and managed to create three prototypes for the Electric-, Ice-, and Fire-Type Power Suits, which she loaned out to Kyle Eston, Ray Hakuda, and Ryan Sanders on their mission to defeat the Ancient Darkrai once and for all. Using data gathered from these (unauthorized) field tests, she went on to create the Power Suits proper, one for each Type.
While the Power Suits were operational, they would soon prove to be Vert's (temporary) downfall in Team Liberty. A test gone wrong resulted in the near-death of Agent David Ross at James's hand, and with it the full realization that Vert was willing to throw lives away in pursuit of her project. This resulted in the pair being attacked by the Sins Trainers called Lust and Greed, who targeted Vert and James, respectively. Though they managed to defeat the Sins, they were apprehended by Goldhawk soon after, who forced the truth of the Power Suits out of Vert. The revelation that she had sacrificed numerous clones without even attempting to prevent any of their deaths drove a wedge between her and James, as well, destroying their professional relationship. Both were stripped of their ranks as a result, with James put on probation and Vert sent to the Alamo's prison. There, she was mysteriously provided with her work materials by someone identified only as "04," whom she connected to Team Liberty's leadership--realizing that only someone on that level would be able to bend protocol to allow her to continue her work.
After the materialization of Missing Zero in the world, Vert was brought back on in order to facilitate the use of the Power Suits while Pokémon powers remained inactive. She served as the primary operations manager for the mission to One Island, where she utilized the Suits' remote access to adjust their radio signals, removing the need for each individual to use their unique ID codes over the comms. During the mission, Goldhawk's suit deactivated at an inopportune moment, rendering him defenseless against Wrath, who critically injured him. Despite suspicion toward her, Vert managed to provide evidence that it was a flaw in the suit and not active sabotage. After being reinstated by Silvermind to R&D, Vert provided further evidence implicating James Arthur in the death of not only Goldhawk, but Bluefalcon as well. Her connections to the Signs were also uncovered by a group investigating a warehouse in Keturi City; Xander Cruise interrogated her about this. During this conversation, she revealed that her intentions with creating the Power Suits were to put less pressure on Pokémon to fight, citing the loss of some of her own during her time as a Field Agent. As Xander's psychic abilities were not active at that time, he was not able to confirm the validity behind this claim.
